Featuring poems such as Sodden Rubies which is now featured in Beloved Zine (!) my first photo book "Lip Service” is a capsule of poems and photography depicting themes of Latinx femme queerness, yearning, and sensuality, created in 2022 as one of my senior theses in conversation with Juana Maria Rodriguez's books “Queer Latinidad” and “Sexual Futures, Queer Gestures, and Other Latina Longings.”
Intrinsically inspired by Uses of the Erotic by Audre Lorde, Pleasure Activism by Adrienne Marie Brown, and Monica Sjoo’s The Great Cosmic Mother, Lip Service asks to redefine its connotated meaning of “empty talk” in new venues, as it does of perceived Latinx femininity and desire. This is my homage to the queer community, being Latina, and femmes within the queer femme gaze 💌
